About The Position

Center for Bone & Joint Surgery of the Palm Beaches is a multi-location medical practice devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and diseases of the body's musculoskeletal system. Our locations feature a staff of highly trained orthopedic surgeons, each with a specific area of expertise. We offer a team approach to your care and provides a variety of services right on campus designed for your convenience and ensuring an outstanding continuum of care. These include on-site X-ray, on-site MRI, on-site physical therapy. As Center for Bone & Joint Surgery continues to grow, we are seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our team. Ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong interest in orthopedic care (experience preferred), is committed to long-term employment and is willing to travel to our Jupiter office and Delray Beach Office once per week.

Requirements

  • ADN/BSN
  • Knowledge of acute and chronic protocols, administration of medications, delivering physical care following treatment plan
  • Knowledge of how to assess a patient with chronic medical conditions / understanding of pathophysiology regarding disease process.
  • Knowledge of health promotion principles and techniques that can be used to educate patients which encourages them to participate in their care.
  • Insertion of intravenous catheters.
  • Skill in analyzing, interpreting a medical record, and gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic and emotional patient data.
  • Skill in evaluating and revising patient care based on symptoms / objective assessment.
  • Ability to make responsible decisions within the Registered Nurse scope of practice & clinic protocols.
  • Ability to offer education materials about procedures they had done.
  • Ensure patient safety at all times.
  • Ability to have open communication with the providers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health care team.
  • Willing to travel to our Jupiter office and Delray Beach Office once per week.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient health status including state of wellness, compliance with care plan and determines appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Provides acute and chronic patient care including taking histories, doing physicals, monitoring therapies, giving injections and medications, suturing wounds.
  • Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems.
  • Responds to emergencies including the use of CPR.
  • Documents patient information and care provided in patient record and maintains patient statistics.
  • Educates patients and families as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with physicians in managing the medical needs of patients.
  • Participates in rounds at the hospital and responds to patient calls received after hours and on weekends.
  • Consults with other staff as necessary.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • First call for patients during non-business hours, (on average 2 calls per week).
  • Conduct clinic 8-10 half days per week.
  • Almost exclusively clinic work, be willing to see an occasional inpatient if necessary.
  • No ER call.
  • Project manage ancillaries.
  • Respond to all emails within 1 business day.
