About The Position

The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (Spine) plays a critical role in delivering specialized care to patients with spinal conditions, working closely with our orthopedic surgeons and rehabilitation teams. This position involves comprehensive patient assessment, diagnosis, and management of both acute and chronic spine disorders, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care. The role requires collaboration in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, including preoperative and postoperative care, to optimize patient outcomes. Additionally, the provider will educate patients and their families about spine health, treatment options, and preventive strategies. Ultimately, this position aims to improve patient mobility, reduce pain, and enhance overall quality of life through expert clinical practice and compassionate care.

Requirements

• Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the United States.
• Certification from an accredited PA or NP program with national board certification.
• Experience or clinical training in orthopedics, neurology, or spine care.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
• The required clinical skills enable the provider to perform detailed patient assessments and develop effective treatment plans tailored to complex spinal conditions.
• Strong diagnostic abilities are essential for interpreting imaging and laboratory data to guide clinical decisions.
• Communication skills are critical for educating patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records facilitates accurate documentation and efficient workflow management.

Nice To Haves

• Specialty certification in orthopedics, neurology, or spine care (e.g., NCCPA Orthopaedic Certification for PAs).
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems specific to orthopedic or spine practices.
• Familiarity with minimally invasive spine procedures and postoperative rehabilitation protocols.
• Advanced certifications such as ACLS or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient histories and physical examinations focused on spinal health and related neurological function.
• Order, interpret, and integrate diagnostic tests such as imaging and laboratory results to inform clinical decision-making.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management, physical therapy referrals, and patient education.
• Provide preoperative and postoperative care to ensure optimal recovery and rehabilitation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, physical therapists, and pain management specialists to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
• Document patient encounters accurately and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and institutional policies.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with advances in spine care through continuing education.
