About The Position
Sutter Medical Group (SMG) is seeking a Pediatric Intensivist Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our collaborative and close‑knit Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team in Sacramento, CA. This role is ideal for a dedicated advanced practice provider who thrives in a high‑acuity environment, values teamwork, and wants to be part of a department that truly feels like family. About the PICU 20 total beds, divided into: 10 Pediatric CVICU beds 10 PICU beds Average daily census: 16–17 patients Acuity includes a diverse mix of medical and cardiac critical care patients Strong multidisciplinary collaboration with physicians, nursing, respiratory therapy, and ancillary teams
Requirements
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Acute-care pediatric credentials required
- 2-year of pediatric critical care experience
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU and CVICU
- Perform assessments, develop and implement treatment plans, and manage complex medical conditions
- Collaborate closely with intensivists, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, and other subspecialty teams
- Participate in procedures, bedside rounds, and care coordination with families
- Contribute positively to a supportive, team‑oriented department culture
