About The Position

Sutter Medical Group (SMG) seeks an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Orthopedic Surgery Same Day Access program in Sacramento, CA. This unique role is designed to improve patient access by providing timely evaluation and management of acute musculoskeletal injuries and orthopedic conditions. The APP will serve as a key member of a multidisciplinary orthopedic team, working closely with orthopedic surgeons, primary care providers, sports medicine specialists, and rehabilitation services to expedite diagnosis, treatment, and appropriate surgical referrals when needed. The position offers a dynamic blend of independent patient care and collaborative practice in a fast-paced outpatient setting. The successful candidate will evaluate new orthopedic complaints, order and interpret diagnostic studies, develop treatment plans, perform procedures within scope of practice, and coordinate follow-up care to ensure seamless patient access throughout the orthopedic continuum. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Active California NP or PA license, or ability to obtain
  • Proficiency in musculoskeletal assessment, treatment planning, and patient education
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with orthopedic surgeons and multidisciplinary care teams
  • Commitment to improving patient access, efficiency, quality, and clinical outcomes

Nice To Haves

  • Orthopedic, sports medicine, emergency medicine, urgent care, or related musculoskeletal experience
  • Experience evaluating and treating acute orthopedic injuries and conditions
  • Experience with joint injections, splinting, casting, and other orthopedic procedures
