About The Position

Bring your advanced-practice expertise to a collaborative military healthcare environment where you’ll evaluate neurological conditions, guide treatment, and help patients and families better understand their care. At International SOS Government Medical Services, you'll support healthcare programs that improve patient care and operational readiness across the U.S. and internationally. Founded in 1984, International SOS operates in more than 90 countries, delivering healthcare, medical assistance, emergency response, and workforce support services worldwide. In this onsite role, you’ll provide comprehensive neurological care as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) within a military healthcare environment. Working across outpatient and inpatient settings, you’ll practice independently within your clinical privileges and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic neurological conditions. Your work will include developing treatment plans, prescribing medications, performing or assisting with neurological procedures, responding to consultations, communicating test results, and educating patients and families. You’ll also contribute to clinical education, peer review, and quality-improvement activities.

Requirements

  • At least 24 months of experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, as applicable, within the preceding 36 months in an outpatient and/or inpatient clinical setting.
  • Neurology experience is required.
  • Full, current, and unrestricted professional license from any U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
  • Current Basic Life Support and ACLS certifications.
  • Ability to practice independently within the authorized scope of practice and clinical privileges.
  • Basic knowledge of managing daily clinic operations serving a high volume of patients with varied healthcare needs.
  • Master’s degree in nursing (for NP pathway).
  • Graduation from an applicable nursing specialty program accredited by ACEN or CCNE (for NP pathway).
  • Current Nurse Practitioner certification in the applicable specialty through ANCC, AANP, or another recognized national nursing certification organization appropriate to the specialty (for NP pathway).
  • Bachelor’s degree (for PA pathway).
  • Graduation from a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (for PA pathway).
  • Completion of at least 12 months of residency or fellowship training in a medical specialty program acceptable to the Defense Health Agency (for PA pathway).
  • Current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (for PA pathway).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new and established patients and diagnose and manage acute and chronic neurological conditions.
  • Develop treatment plans and prescribe medications and immunizations within approved protocols and clinical privileges.
  • Provide scheduled outpatient care and inpatient, urgent, same-day, and telephone consultations as needed.
  • Perform or assist with medically indicated neurological diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Communicate laboratory and radiology results and educate patients and families about treatment, prevention, and self-management.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
  • Maintain timely and accurate medical records and clinical coding.
  • Participate in peer review and quality-improvement activities, support clinical education as assigned, and promote patient safety and infection-control practices.
