About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant performs a variety of medical tasks in authorized settings, including clinics, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, nursing homes, or the patient's home. Responsibilities include obtaining patient history, performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, formulating diagnoses, developing treatment plans, monitoring treatment effectiveness, providing patient counseling and education, making referrals, prescribing medication, assisting in surgery, and performing minor and surgical procedures. The role also involves assessing and interpreting patient data relative to age-specific needs, contributing to departmental process improvement and policy development, and participating in committee assignments.

Requirements

  • New graduates are welcome to apply!
  • Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current FL RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP, ANP, ACNP.
  • Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the FL State Board of Medical Practice.
  • Active BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date
  • DEA registration required

Responsibilities

  • Obtaining patient history
  • Performing physical examinations
  • Ordering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Formulating a diagnostic impression
  • Developing and implementing a treatment plan
  • Monitoring effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
  • Offering counseling and education to meet patient needs
  • Making appropriate referrals
  • Prescribing and dispensing prescription medication in accordance with FL state laws and department policies
  • Assisting in surgery
  • Performing minor procedures and surgical procedures
  • Assessing data reflective of patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to patient's age-specific needs
  • Assist with ongoing departmental process improvement and policy development
  • Other departmental or institutional committee assignments as needed
