About The Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Inpatient/Infusion is responsible for delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care through inpatient rounding, clinical assessments, care coordination, and discharge planning under the supervision of the primary physician, in accordance with South Dakota scope-of-practice regulations. The APP collaborates closely with attending physicians, clinical pharmacists, and nursing staff to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality care across both inpatient and infusion settings. In the medical oncology infusion center, the APP plays an integral role in evaluating patients for treatment and managing acute symptoms. Responsibilities include managing acute symptoms, add-on infusion patient appointment visits, and overseeing the safe administration of chemotherapy, biologics, and blood products. The APP monitors for, promptly recognizes, and intervenes in infusion-related reactions, and manages treatment-related toxicities to reduce risk and optimize patient outcomes. The APP also supports continuity of care between inpatient and infusion services by facilitating care transitions, implementing evidence-based treatment plans, and ensuring adherence to established protocols. This role includes ordering and interpreting laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and medications within scope of practice, while complying with approved protocols, and hospital policies.   • Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) - Board of Nursing

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients according to medical staff approved protocol and acceptable standards of practice.
  • Provides medical services and health education to patients and family members.
  • Effectively contributes to the health education of individuals and groups and applies appropriate methods designed to increase each person’s motivation to assume responsibility for their own health care.
  • Consults and collaborates with physician as assessing, diagnosing and treating patients.
  • Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to written, approved protocols and appropriate licensing and administrative authorities.
  • Interprets information gathered during the diagnostic process and consults with the physician as appropriate regarding abnormal health assessment findings to establish appropriate plan of care.
  • Assures that appropriate referrals are made for patients.
  • Provides quality care for patient, demonstrates appropriate health, safety, and aseptic practices.
  • Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care.
  • Effectively provides patient instruction related to environment of care and safety standards.
