About The Position

As a Hematology and Oncology Advanced Practice Provider at Allina Health, you will join a dedicated team passionate about providing transformative and enhanced care for the many individuals diagnosed with cancer each year in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Our team is committed to the Allina Health Cancer Institute’s vision of being a premier cancer program in the region. The Allina Health Cancer Institute is seeking a Hematology Oncology Advanced Practice Provider to join the practice. This is a full-time position located at the Allina Health Cancer Institute in St. Paul, MN. The work schedule is Monday through Friday. You will be working alongside a collaborative team that includes Hematologists/Oncologists, Advanced Practice Providers, and various support services. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support patients with solid tumors as well as hematology patients. Your responsibilities will include seeing patients in the clinic, in the hospital and covering the infusion center. Potential for future weekend rounding.

Requirements

  • Master's degree - Completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program required.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required upon hire (NP)
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner - MN Board of Nursing license required upon hire or Certified Physician Assistant- MN PA Medical license required upon hire.
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner - American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification within specialty or Certified Physician Assistant - (NCCPA) - National Commission Certification of Physician Assistants within specialty upon hire required.
  • BLS - Multisource required within 180 Days
  • Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • New Graduates may be considered.
  • Prefer a minimum of 2 years of experience in Oncology and Hematology.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical care for patients
  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
  • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
  • Refers for specialty care when determined.
  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Nurse Practitioner scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
  • Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
  • Acts as resource to members of the team.
  • Works with primary care team for program development.
  • Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
  • Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.
  • Other duties as assigned.
