About The Position

Allina Health Cancer Institute (AHCI) – New Ulm, Minnesota. This role offers the opportunity to practice full-spectrum oncology and hematology while building meaningful, long-term relationships with patients and families. This is a full-time position, Monday – Friday business hours, with no call or weekends. It is an outpatient-based role located at New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm, Minnesota. The role involves providing care for patients with solid tumors and hematologic conditions across the treatment continuum, including active treatment visits, Infusion center support, survivorship and follow-up care. The position requires close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including Oncology providers, surgical and medical specialists, and radiation oncology partners. Requirements

  • Master's degree - Completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program or physician assist program required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of NP or PA experience required.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required upon hire (RN)
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner - MN Board of Nursing required upon hire or Certified Physician Assistant- MN Medical Board required upon hire.
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner - American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification within specialty or Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA) - National Commission Certification of Physician Assistants within specialty required upon hire.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer a minimum of 2 years of experience in Oncology.
  • BLS required within 180 Days

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical care for patients
  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
  • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
  • Refers for specialty care when determined.
  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Nurse Practitioner scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
  • Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
  • Acts as resource to members of the team.
  • Works with primary care team for program development.
  • Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
  • Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.
  • Other duties as assigned.
