Allina Health Heart Institute is seeking a Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant to join the practice at Abbott Northwestern Hospital (Minneapolis) and United Hospital (St. Paul). This is a rounding-only position with 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) and 10-hour shifts. The role is an inpatient and outpatient position and includes weekend rotation, approximately 1 weekend per month. The electronic health record system used is Excellian.

Requirements

• Master's degree - Completion of accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
• Experience in Critical Care required
• Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
• Active MN NP/PA license (or ability to obtain)
• BLS certification required with in 180 days of hire
• Ability to meet criteria/qualifications for credentialing and hospital privileges.
• Ability to obtain and/or maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI)

Responsibilities

• Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
• Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Nurse Practitioner scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
• Participates in health care team.
• Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
• Acts as resource to members of the team.
