About The Position

This role involves providing comprehensive care to OB/GYN patients, functioning independently within established policies and goals under the general direction of the Medical Director and supervising physician. The Nurse Practitioner will conduct annual gynecological examinations, diagnose and treat acute and chronic gynecological issues, and provide care for obstetrical patients. Responsibilities also include assisting with clinical training, communicating with staff and patients, maintaining patient rights and confidentiality, providing patient education, and participating in departmental policy development. The role requires acting as a patient advocate, engaging in continuous improvement initiatives, and performing basic nursing responsibilities as needed, such as telephone triage and monitoring diagnostic reports.

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or higher
  • Currently licensed as a Certified Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (obtain within 30 days, offered within)
  • US Department of Justice and Massachusetts’ Controlled Substance DEA Registrations are required for prescribing practitioners

Responsibilities

  • Provide annual gynecological examinations, routine and follow up care and diagnose and treat acute and chronic gynecological problems.
  • Provide care and treatment to obstetrical patients.
  • Provide and assist with clinical training in the onboarding of any Nurse Practitioners or Certified Nurse Midwives.
  • Communicate with OB/GYN office personnel, patients, families and other hospital departments to ensure high quality patient care.
  • Initiate and assist in coordinating consultations with other providers and community agencies.
  • Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of information.
  • Serve as a patients advocate to provide a safe and secure environment.
  • Initiate and participate in the identification of important aspects of patient care for each patient and the identification of indicators used to monitor the quality of care.
  • Provide patient teaching and health counseling.
  • Participate as a resource person within the OB/GYN office.
  • Participate in the development of departmental policies, procedures and programs to ensure department effectiveness.
  • Upon request of the Practice Management team, perform basic nursing responsibilities including, but not limited to: telephone triage, quality assurance tracking and monitoring of laboratory and diagnostic testing reports.
  • Communicates with family members and health professionals regarding care of patients.
  • Serves as patient advocate within guidelines found in the Patient Bill of Rights.
  • Assumes responsibility for own personal continuing education and development needs; attends meetings, workshops and conventions to enrich personal knowledge, growth and skill in providing clinical care for patients.
  • Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the position, department and hospital as described in the scope of service.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned or requested.
