The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work alongside and in collaboration with the general hepatology team of doctors, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, medical assistants and research coordinators to provide high quality care and management of new or established and returning patients. Responsible for direct patient care and coordination within specialty area(s). Assesses patients by means of health history and physical examination. Initiates and orders selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as determined by specialty area(s) following appropriate clinical protocols. Educates and councils patients as appropriate by department and specialty practice standards. Confers with physicians and other health care providers in completing and implementing appropriate patient treatment plans. This role supports the clinical, educational, and academic mission of the institution. In addition to clinical responsibilities, this role may have opportunities to engage in teaching and mentorship through institutional training programs, including the WCM/NYP PA Program. Additionally, the NP will: Specialize in seeing patient populations in general hepatology including cirrhosis (but not liver transplant patients) Participate in multidisciplinary clinic for high-risk patients with MASLD Participate in clinical research in hepatology Provide direct patient care, assess patients by means of health history and physical examination. Initiate and order selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as determined by specialty area(s) following appropriate clinical protocols. Educate and council patients as appropriate by department and specialty practice standards. Confer with physicians and other health care providers in completing and implementing appropriate patient treatment plans.
