About The Position

The University of Rochester's Advanced Endoscopy Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join their interdisciplinary patient care team. This full-time, ambulatory position involves providing direct patient care, managing acute illnesses and chronic symptoms for general GI patients, with a specific focus on diseases of the pancreas and biliary tree. The role includes pre- and post-procedure management for patients undergoing advanced endoscopic procedures and chronic disease management. Providers will perform histories and physicals, follow-up office visits, coordinate diagnostic testing and procedures, and prescribe medications. Patient education and understanding of advanced endoscopic procedures are crucial. The position offers participation in continuing education, career advancement, and mentorship/support for new hires, along with a structured onboarding program. Excellent communication skills and the ability to make independent decisions are essential.

Requirements

  • Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner (for NP role)
  • Active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing (for NP role)
  • Active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing (for NP role)
  • Current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner (for NP role)
  • Completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program (for PA role)
  • Active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing (for PA role)
  • Current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (for PA role)
  • NYS eligible for NP/PA certification
  • Clinical competence
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills
  • Computer competence
  • Active desire to learn

  • Experience as a provider in an interdisciplinary patient care team with a large APP representation in the division of gastroenterology and hepatology

Responsibilities
