About The Position

The Cleveland Clinic is seeking an innovative, adaptable Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join its NP-led critical care team at Avon Hospital. The role rotates between the Step-Down and ICU units, allowing the provider to develop critical-thinking, assessment, and team-leadership skills before gradually assuming ICU responsibilities. NP experience is preferred; candidates with at least three years of experience as a Step-Down, Emergency Room, or Critical Care RN will also be considered. The successful candidate will value autonomous practice and, after training, work at the top of their license in a community hospital setting to help improve patient outcomes. With oversight from a critical care physician, the provider develops and implements plans of care for acutely ill patients, including arranging testing, procedures, and specialty consultations. The provider also assists with Rapid Response and Code Blue efforts across the hospital in collaboration with other Critical Care Nurse Practitioners. As training and credentialing progress, the provider may develop skills in intubation, central and arterial line placement, and ventilator management, and begin rotating into the ICU. New hires complete a paid hybrid orientation that includes expert-led didactic sessions, hands-on practice and professional development on their home unit, progressive simulation days at Cleveland Clinic’s Simulation and Advanced Skills Center, procedural training in an operating room and cadaver lab, time at regional sites to learn workflows and patient management, and a one-year mentorship program.
