About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Neurosurgery (Spine) inpatient team. Ideal nursing candidates demonstrate a strong commitment to service excellence, nursing excellence, and adaptability. This role involves coordinating with multiple physician teams regarding the care plan for each spine patient daily. The Nurse Navigator will participate in multidisciplinary rounds to optimize teammate communication for neurosurgical patients, facilitate communication with physician teams regarding patient or nursing questions/concerns, and communicate with family members to ensure adequate understanding of the patient’s care during the hospital course. Additionally, the role assists with scheduling post-op follow-ups, wound checks, and outpatient imaging.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Current BLS certification, ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of nursing experience preferred
  • Prior inpatient Neurosurgery experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of the components of quality and acute patient care needs.
  • Maintains clinical expertise to effectively manage physical, emotional, psychosocial and spiritual needs of patients throughout the care continuum.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal communication skills necessary to negotiate with families, patient, physicians, and third-party payers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with physicians and other professionals in a direct and positive manner.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS preferred
  • Neurosurgical nursing experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with multiple physician teams regarding the care plan for each spine patient daily
  • In conjunction with providers, participate in multidisciplinary rounds on 9T to optimize teammate communication for our neurosurgical patients
  • Facilitate communication with physician teams regarding patient or nursing questions/concerns
  • Communicate with family members to ensure adequate understanding of patient’s care during hospital course
  • Coordinate with social workers/case managers to assist with appropriate patient disposition
  • Assist with scheduling of post op follow ups, wound checks and outpatient imaging
