About The Position

As we expand our medical facility with the construction of a state-of-the-art Emergency Tower, we are seeking a dynamic Nurse Manager to lead and coordinate the integration of our G1600 Transition and ED Observation Units. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the growth of the combined Emergency Observation Unit for the new tower. Responsible for 24/7 management of the nursing practice and quality of care of observation and admitted patients. The NM will be responsible for the selection of nurses, coordinating staff assignments, participating in performance evaluations, and supporting nurse orientation, education, and competency development. Candidates must possess the necessary skills to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment including delivery of direct patient care. This individual will work with the nursing director to create and maintain an environment that supports professional practice and employee engagement. The successful nurse manager will develop and maintain collaborative relationships with the unit staff, directors, leadership teams, providers, and consulting disciplines.

Requirements

  • BSN
  • Master’s degree within 5 years
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience
  • Active New York State RN license in good standing
  • Necessary skills to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment including delivery of direct patient care

Responsibilities

  • Maintains 24 hour-a-day accountability for all patient care and nursing activities on assigned inpatient unit.
  • Oversees and directs unit activities including standards development, human resource management, assessment of resource needs and utilization, staff development and communication within nursing practice as well as among other disciplines and departments.
  • Oversees all performance improvement activities at the unit level and participates in committees at all levels within the institution.
  • Responsible for 24/7 management of the nursing practice and quality of care of observation and admitted patients.
  • Responsible for the selection of nurses, coordinating staff assignments, participating in performance evaluations, and supporting nurse orientation, education, and competency development.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with the unit staff, directors, leadership teams, providers, and consulting disciplines.
