About The Position

Under the direction of the Patient Care Unit Director, the Nurse Manager has 24 X 7 responsibility for operational leadership and management of the patient care unit. He/she is responsible for team and individual development, utilization of human, technical and material resources and quality improvement activities at the unit and organization level. The Nurse Manager assists the director in fiscal responsibilities. The Nurse Manager is responsible for supporting and assisting in the delivery of quality patient care and professional nursing practice. The Medical Specialties Unit (5 South) is a 20-bed inpatient unit providing care for a diverse population of adult medical and surgical patients. This fast-paced environment offers nurses the opportunity to develop broad clinical expertise while caring for patients with a wide range of complex medical conditions and post-surgical needs. The unit is recognized for its collaborative culture, supportive onboarding, and commitment to continuous learning through evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives. The Medical Oncology Unit (5 East) is a 20-bed private inpatient unit specializing in the care of patients diagnosed with cancer. Nurses provide compassionate, specialized care including chemotherapy administration, symptom management, patient education, and support throughout the cancer journey.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice in the state of New Hampshire.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification, or equivalent course credentialed by American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of 3 years of acute care clinical experience in department specific nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited college.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in nursing preferred or commensurate education and experience.
  • Certification in department specific specialty strongly preferred.
  • Previous supervisory/leadership experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees clinical nursing care, ensuring compliance with established standards of care and practice.
  • Manages patient care and transitions across the continuum.
  • Recruits, retains, nurtures, evaluates and develops staff.
  • Manages departmental core processes.
  • Plans, administers, and accounts for human, material, and educational resources as well as systems and processes to effectuate care and services.
  • Monitors, evaluates and improves quality of care and services provided.
  • Cultivates respectful and responsive relationships and provides services that are delivered in a professional, compassionate manner.
  • Acts as a conduit for department and organizational communication.
  • Leads department and interdepartmental teams.
  • Participates in and supports departmental and organizational change.
  • Ensures compliance with State, Local, Federal regulatory requirements.
  • Takes responsibility for individual performance goals.
  • Meet all departmental, professional and technical requirements.
