About The Position
Sentara is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) at Norfolk General Hospital's Medical Specialties Department, in Norfolk Virginia. A sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 is offered for qualified candidates, with special bonuses and relocation packages available. The position is full-time, with a Weekend Day shift (7a-7p). The Medical Specialties Unit is a 42-bed unit recognized for its safe, high-quality care, having won the PRISM Award. The diverse patient population includes conditions such as CHF, Sickle Cell, Renal Failure, Vascular issues, Sepsis, COPD, Pneumonia, Osteomyelitis with Surgical Interventions, and Wound Care. The unit utilizes EPIC integration for efficient data input and fosters a strong teamwork model with communication via walkie-talkies. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Professional performance standards encompass ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN must possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards required by specific clinical areas. All Direct Care RNs are required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
Requirements
- RN Degree REQUIRED
- Virginia RN License REQUIRED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90-days of hire

- Prior RN experience PREFERRED
