The Intensive Care unit (ICU) are units within Critical Care Services. The ICU unit will care for patients in need of increased monitoring and treatment who are critically ill or injured or at risk of developing life-threatening organ dysfunction. These patients require monitoring and treatment beyond the capacity of medical/surgical and Step-Down units. Patient care includes but not limited to: Mechanical ventilator support; Vasoactive drug infusions; intracranial injury; trauma; neurologic conditions; septicemia, cardiac and cerebrovascular diseases; Post cardiac procedures, interventions and/or surgeries; post-operative arrhythmia management. The Nurse Manager of the Intensive Care assumes 24-hour responsibility, authority and accountability for patient care activities in ICU. Manages the day- to-day delivery of professional nursing services for assigned units. This position is responsible for the overall planning, budgeting, staffing, performance, and operation of the department in conjunction with the director as well as performance and annual review of direct reports. This position directly manages caregivers in the Intensive Care Unit.
