We are seeking a Nurse Manager to lead our clinical team and oversee daily operations for the J51 and J53 Cardiovascular Stepdown units. In this role, you will provide clinical and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. You will be responsible for staffing, scheduling, and supervising nursing practice while fostering a collaborative, supportive environment that promotes professional development and team growth. This position supports a specialized cardiovascular patient population, including patients with ventricular assist devices (VADs). You will oversee all aspects of personnel management and development, ensuring clinical excellence and a positive work environment. Your dedication and leadership will enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience for patients, visitors, and fellow caregivers alike. A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Occasional late nights and weekends may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
  • Three years of recent clinical nursing experience, including at least one year of healthcare management experience
  • High degree of clinical expertise in the specialty area
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • Prior Cardiac ICU, Stepdown or ICU experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage the operation and practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.
  • Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes and patient care standards.
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.
  • Supervise caregivers and promote development.
  • Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate unit operations with other units/departments.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, approve purchases and establish/revise inventory quotes.
  • Analyze personnel structure and determine staffing needs.
  • Evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination processes and develop strategic plans.
  • Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
