About The Position

Saint Joseph’s Health, a member of Trinity Health, is seeking an experienced and compassionate Nurse Manager - Behavioral Health to lead our Inpatient Psychiatric Program and Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP). This leadership role is responsible for driving clinical excellence, operational performance, employee engagement, patient experience, and quality outcomes across Behavioral Health services. The Nurse Manager, Behavioral Health provides leadership and operational oversight for designated Behavioral Health services, including the Inpatient Psychiatric Program and Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP). Reporting to the Director of Acute Care Behavioral Health, this leader is accountable for staffing, quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, financial performance, employee engagement, and patient satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
  • BLS certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible nursing experience in Behavioral Health, Psychiatry, Mental Health, or related acute care setting
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership, supervisory, charge nurse, coordinator, or management experience
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral health clinical practices and regulatory requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of Behavioral Health nursing experience
  • Prior leadership experience in inpatient psychiatry and/or psychiatric emergency services
  • Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (PMH-BC)

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of the Inpatient Psychiatric Program and Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP).
  • Supervise, coach, and develop nursing leaders and staff to build a high-performing team.
  • Ensure safe staffing, regulatory compliance, and delivery of high-quality patient-centered care.
  • Partner with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and hospital leadership to achieve quality, safety, and patient experience goals.
  • Monitor department performance, productivity, and outcomes, implementing improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Support budget management, resource stewardship, and operational efficiency.
  • Respond to patient care and staffing issues, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
  • Participate in direct patient care activities as needed to support unit operations and patient needs.
