About The Position

Duke Primary Care Sage Road Internal Medicine provides expert, personalized care for adult patients. Serving 50 to 90 patients daily, the clinic offers a full range of primary care services, including annual physicals, health screenings, sick visits, immunizations, and chronic disease management. Specialized services include diabetes education, women’s health exams, joint injections, and skin biopsies. Focused on preventive care and long-term wellness, the team delivers compassionate support for adults at every stage of life. Location: 201 Sage Road Suite 300, Chapel Hill, NC 27514 Clinic Hours: 8am – 5pm, Monday - Friday

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
  • Three years of nursing experience is required.
  • Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina.
  • BCLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
  • Nurses hired into leadership positions must obtain a leadership certification within three months of hire.
  • New nurse leaders who are ineligible to sit for an exam because they have not been working in a leadership role for the minimum amount of time required must complete their certification within three months of becoming eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate patient care and personnel needs in a DUHS clinic.
  • Work performed involves managing multi-specialty nursing services delivered within a specified clinic.
  • Manage the clinic in the absence of the HealthCare Administrator/Practice Manager; be available on-call for emergencies involving the facility or staff.
  • Develop and implement processes to enhance clinic operations and practices for ongoing quality improvement.
  • Identify clinical operational needs; manage appropriate levels of equipment and supplies, and monitor equipment maintenance.
  • Assess the environment and make recommendations to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety, and compliance with regulatory bodies (e.g., OSHA, JCAHO).
  • Develop, document, implement, and monitor written policies and procedures reflective of the ambulatory healthcare site’s mission and objectives.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to clinic operations.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate ambulatory health care services, programs, and activities.
  • Collaborate with the Health Center Administrator/Nurse Manager in determining fiscal requirements; submit budgetary recommendations including necessary nursing personnel and patient care materials.
  • Manage various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, orientation, performance appraisals, promotions, and scheduling.
  • Counsel and conduct formal discipline of clinical staff as needed.
  • Collaborate in the development, implementation, and expansion of learning opportunities and skill development for all clinical staff.
  • Collaborate with nursing colleagues in ambulatory care to promote optimal utilization of nursing resources among various clinics.
  • Analyze, develop, and maintain an effective and efficient nursing care delivery system that reflects patient and family needs across the continuum, achieving desired outcomes.
  • Promote education for patients, patient families, and the community.
  • Participate in direct patient care activities as a targeted strategy for role modeling or information gathering.
  • Cultivate exemplary customer service throughout the organization.
  • Promote effective communication skills including problem-solving, assertiveness, team support, feedback, active listening, and conflict resolution.
