About The Position

This is a Nurse Intern position in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, KS. The intern will support patient well-being by assisting with daily living activities and monitoring vital signs. They will also observe patient status, document and report observations to their preceptor, and assist in developing care plans. The intern will also support the unit by preparing and transporting patients and ensuring a safe environment.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
High school diploma/GED required.
Must be accepted or enrolled into a Nursing program upon date of hire/transfer and begin classes within 90 days of date of hire/transfer.

You are actively pursuing your nursing degree through an accredited ADN, BSN, or MSN program.

Responsibilities

Support your patients’ well-being by assisting with activities of daily living and accurately monitoring vital signs, ensuring they feel dignified and cared for.
Observe patient status and responses firsthand. You’ll play a critical role in the care team by documenting and reporting these observations directly to your preceptor.
Assist your preceptor in developing comprehensive care plans, using your reports on test results and patient observations to help shape clinical outcomes.
Take an active role in the flow of the department, from preparing and transporting patients for diagnostic services to ensuring a safe, clean environment for healing.
