About The Position

Via Christi St. Francis is seeking a Nurse Intern for their Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit in Wichita, KS. This PRN position offers associates tuition discounts and priority placement in select healthcare programs through an academic partnership with Wichita State University. The intern will support patient well-being by assisting with daily living activities and monitoring vital signs, observe and report patient status and responses to their preceptor, assist in developing care plans based on observations and test results, and support the unit's flow by preparing and transporting patients and ensuring a safe environment.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
High school diploma/GED required.
Must be accepted or enrolled into a Nursing program upon date of hire/transfer and begin classes within 90 days of date of hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

Support patients’ well-being by assisting with activities of daily living and accurately monitoring vital signs.
Observe patient status and responses firsthand and document and report these observations directly to your preceptor.
Assist your preceptor in developing comprehensive care plans, using your reports on test results and patient observations to help shape clinical outcomes.
Take an active role in the flow of the department, from preparing and transporting patients for diagnostic services to ensuring a safe, clean environment for healing.
