About The Position

This position influences the design, implementation, and maintenance of Sutter Health's clinical information systems and associated applications. It integrates nursing science, computer technology, and information management to configure and communicate data, information, knowledge, and insights used to facilitate and support informed decisions. The role incorporates components of clinical practice, affiliate workflows and regulatory requirements to ensure a cohesive clinical information system that reflects the total patient care experience. The Nurse Informaticist III provides functional and technical leadership, as well as daily operational support of information systems and patient care technology of the Nursing Department. This role partners with other clinical departments, medical staff committees, Information Systems (IS) organizations, Nursing Leadership, and selected technology companies to evolve and optimize Sutter Health's clinical information systems and associated applications while enhancing the quality and continuity of patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • RN-Registered Nurse of California
  • 5 years of recent relevant experience
  • Expert competency in applying evidence-based knowledge, theory, practices, principles, and processes of professional nursing.
  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare operations and departments, including a broad understanding of physician and clinical staff workflows, patient care, quality assessment and improvement, and with the proven ability to guide the planning and adoption of applications integral to the clinical environment.
  • Robust knowledge of local, state, federal, and accrediting body regulations and standards related to healthcare, including a solid understanding of the Joint Commission standards and documentation requirements.
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, conflict identification and resolution, group problem solving and group process to build consensus and institute effective changes.
  • Exceptional analytical and project management skills, including the ability to analyze problems and reach practical conclusions that streamline processes, improve productivity, or increase the quality of care.
  • Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain clinical information and program data clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
  • Advance proficiency working with computers, including Microsoft office Suite, navigating electronic health records (EHRs) in EPIC or other clinical information systems, performing data analysis, and generating value-add reports.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as be part of a team, while demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate assignments under varied and urgent conditions while working within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and prepare both routine and ad hoc reports to support departmental functions, plans and decision making.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems based on the analysis of multiple sources of information while providing new perspectives on existing solutions.
  • Ability to ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (phi).
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with other healthcare providers (staff, nurses, physicians, etc.), information services (is), legal, quality management, and selected technology companies to coordinate efforts and provide efficient and cost-effective clinical information systems.
