About The Position

Under the direct supervision of an RN, the Nurse Extern provides professional, skilled, age-specific care for patients in collaboration with other disciplines. The role performs patient-care-related services for patients from pediatric through geriatric populations. The hourly pay rate is $29.00.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in good standing in a board-approved or accredited nursing program recognized by a U.S. jurisdiction, and within 12 months of program completion; or graduated from a board-approved or accredited nursing program and awaiting the NCLEX.
• Successfully complete an approved Valleywise Health clinical orientation and computer classes.
• If working within behavioral health, successfully complete CPI training upon hire.
• Hold BLS issued by the American Heart Association upon hire.
• Ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
• Ability to work with culturally diverse people.
• Excellent communication, time-management, and customer-service skills.
• Basic computer word-processing skills, including formatting, editing, printing, composing email, and internet searches, and ability to navigate an electronic medical record using a computer.
