About The Position

As a Nurse Extern, you will be a valued member of the nursing team, gaining hands-on experience while exploring the scope of the Registered Nurse role. You will help provide safe, compassionate patient care while building skills and confidence for more advanced responsibilities as you progress through your nursing program. This position is in the PRN Float Pool at HCA HealthONE Mountain Ridge. You will assist patients with activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility, comfort, and hygiene; perform basic nursing tasks as your experience and competency grow; document care and communicate updates to the nursing team; help patients and families understand care plans; and maintain clean, safe patient areas. You will also participate in learning opportunities and work with a supervisor or preceptor on a personal career development plan.

Requirements

Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Associate degree or bachelor's degree.
One year of experience required.
No travel required.

Responsibilities

Assist with activities of daily living, check vital signs, support mobility, and ensure patient comfort and hygiene.
Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as experience and competency develop.
Document care accurately and communicate timely updates to the nursing team.
Help patients and families understand their care plans and provide guidance related to health and recovery.
Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and keeping the environment organized.
Participate in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and partner with a supervisor or preceptor to develop a personal career plan.
