About The Position

As a student in an approved registered nurse or practical nurse school of nursing, the Nurse Extern student participates in clinical work under the direction of an RN. The Nurse Extern assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient’s highest level of wellness working cooperatively with others as part of the healthcare team and performs designated clinical procedures and nonclinical support tasks within the nurse extern scope. This is a 4-week externship experience where participants will have the opportunity to work with a preceptor and may also choose to shadow in additional departments.

Requirements

• Student in an approved registered nurse or practical nurse school of nursing.
• Unlicensed RN student who will have completed at least two semesters of RN clinicals.
• Graduating in 2027.
• Cannot have or obtain LPN license before or during the program.
• BLS Certification required before assigned to care for patients independently.
• Electronic Transcript.
• Skills Checklist signed by Clinical Instructor.
• Personal Statement including answers to specific questions.
• Resume uploaded.
