About The Position

The Nurse Extern II supports patient care under the direction of Registered Nursing staff and provides expanded clinical experience for recent graduates of RN programs who are working toward RN licensure. The role includes participating in patient care planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation, and reporting significant observations to a Registered Nurse. The position collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to support patient care in the hospital’s med-surg services and advanced facilities, including a primary stroke center and a long-term acute care unit. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Graduated within the past 6 months from an accredited RN program.
• Actively taking steps to obtain an RN license.
• CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide expanded clinical experience for senior professional (RN) nursing students.
• Assist Registered Nursing staff with patient care activities, including participating in patient care planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation.
• Report significant observations to a Registered Nurse.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide patient care in med-surg services and advanced facilities, including a primary stroke center and a long-term acute care unit.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
