About The Position

Under the general supervision of the applicable Director and in collaboration with the Program Teams, the incumbent is responsible for educational program development for nursing staff and support staff within the Medicine/Oncology Program. This includes teaching and learning activities, nursing practice standards, patient education development, and professional and self-development. The priority and percentages of each of these functions will vary throughout the year and possibly from year to year.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of four years recent related nursing experience with demonstrated competency in a defined area of clinical nursing practice.
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required.
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Manitoba (C.R.N.M.).
  • Current CPR (Targeted Responder) certification required.
  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in complex situations.
  • Evidence of knowledge of the principles of adult learning and teaching strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to function creatively and independently.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
  • Initiates and supports change.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Competency with word processing and presentation programs required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in teaching, education and program development and evaluation is preferred.
  • Master's degree in Nursing is preferred (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
  • Certificate or certification in a related specialty area preferred.
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.

  • Educational program development for Nursing staff including R.N.s, L.P.N.s, R.P.N.s. within Medicine/Oncology Program.
  • Educational program development for Support staff including U.A.s, N.A.s, U.C.s and/or applicable technicians within Medicine/Oncology program.
