About The Position

This is a Full-Time, Day Shift Position (M-F) for a Nurse Educator in the Surgery department. The role requires flexibility with the shift, and there are no weekends, holidays, or on-call duties. The position is benefits-eligible. The primary scope includes the OR, Endoscopy, and PACU at Barnes-Jewish St. Peter's Hospital and Progress West Hospital, as well as the Barenes-Jewish St. Peter's Outpatient Surgery Center. Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital serves the healthcare needs of families in St. Charles, Lincoln, and Warren counties, offering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and carries a Level II stroke certification. The medical office building houses various specialists, and outpatient services include physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation. Every decision is made in the best interest of patients and families. Both inpatient and outpatient surgical units perform a variety of complex procedures.

Requirements

  • BSN required
  • Required OR experience
  • Self-motivated to see a problem and proactively address it
  • Previous experience in teaching or precepting
  • Strong time management skills.
  • RN License
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • 2-5 years of experience
  • No Supervisor Experience

Nice To Haves

  • Masters preferred. Open to starting a program within one year.
  • Scrub experience preferred.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • 5-10 years of experience
  • Basic Cardiovascular Life Support certification

Responsibilities

  • Creates and implements staff education and professional development activities and programs that optimize patient outcomes.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates ongoing educational and professional development activities and programs for clinical and non-clinical areas.
  • Collaborates with staff and representatives of other organizations to develop, present and or evaluate clinically focused training, continuing education and or professional development opportunities.
  • Participates in activities that promote safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborates with leadership to assess the educational needs of the staff and develops appropriate education plan.
  • Participates in professional development and life long learning.
