NURSE EDUCATOR-CARDIOVASCULAR SERVICES
About The Position
The basic purpose of nursing is to provide safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Additionally, nursing will provide professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times. The Standards of Practice set forth by the professional nursing associations will provide guidelines for the competent, safe and professional practice. Under the guidance of the Department Director and the Director of Education the Clinical Nurse Educator collaborates with nursing management and staff across departments to assess, plan, develop, implement, facilitate, evaluate and revise educational programming for all levels of nursing personnel and non-nursing personnel as indicated or requested. The incumbent acts as a key resource in the orientation and continuing education of nursing and ancillary staff. The Clinical Nurse Educator implements a comprehensive education program for his/her assigned units and clinics. Educational programs typically include, but are not limited to orientation, continuing education and in-services. Other services may include, but are not limited to process, performance and service-delivery consultation and contributions to the organization through ad-hoc or permanently established councils, committees and workgroups. This is a working Educator role and will require assigned hours be spent in staffing.
Requirements
- Current RN licensure in the State of Texas, or compact required.
- BSN within 3 years of hire.
- Two years experience in acute care specialty nursing.
- Must maintain all clinical competencies for area of supervision.
- Current RQI BLS, ACLS required.
- BLS and ACLS Healthcare Provider course according to RQI program guidelines and all required Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Healthcare Provider courses will be provided during new hire orientation or upon transfer, and must be completed prior to working in a clinical setting.
- Must maintain all additional certifications required by area of supervision.
- Must be clinically competent in area of population served.
- Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
- Must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate team leadership.
- Must have the ability to problem solve and think critically.
- Must possess basic computer application skills.
Nice To Haves
- MSN preferred.
- One year charge nurse or supervisory experience preferred.
- National certification in area of supervision preferred (i.e.CEN, TCEN, etc.).
Responsibilities
