This position is responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating staff development and educational activities designed to address identified or anticipated needs of learners for assigned areas. The role assures the quality of patient care and clinical practice progression through the assessment, coaching, and development of nursing staff, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. This includes all aspects of clinical practice, patient care, workplace safety, and the outcomes of care patients receive. The specialist participates in the development and implementation of educational programs for the entire Nursing Department. Key responsibilities include communicating and educating on changes to clinical practice, monitoring compliance, and collaborating with the leadership team on strategic planning for nursing staff development. The role also involves acting as a member of the nursing leadership team, participating in interviews and orientations, and ensuring departmental compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, quality assurance programs, safety, and infection control. A significant aspect of the role is promoting a culture of safety, investigating safety reports, and escalating serious reportable events.
