The Nurse Coordinator in a Hospital Setting is responsible for assisting with the orientation of new staff, conducting staff meetings, effective communication with staff, consumers, and family members, reviewing consumer records to ensure compliance, and ensuring quality care is provided throughout the consumer’s length of stay. This role also involves management activities such as interviewing, hiring, orienting, evaluating, and disciplining staff, as well as accepting on-call responsibilities. The Nurse Coordinator actively assists with hospital cost containment, orders necessary supplies, oversees facility integrity and cleanliness, and participates in performance improvement initiatives. They are also responsible for timely and accurate payroll, approving PTO requests, and conducting safety drills. The role requires adherence to a professional code of ethics and documentation standards, treating consumers with care, dignity, and compassion, and respecting their privacy and confidentiality. The Nurse Coordinator actively participates in Performance and Improvement activities and AltaPointe committees as required, completing assigned tasks in a timely manner and accessing appropriate community resources. They must maintain current state licensure and renewal requirements, including CEUs, and attend required in-services and workshops.
