About The Position

The Nurse Clinician will be responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing comprehensive teaching programs for the nursing staff. The Nurse Clinician will maintain standardization and quality performance of patient care related to ICU/SCU. The Nurse Clinician will participate in hospital committees and be a liaison for a multi-disciplinary team, keeping open lines of communication with all staff.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an approved Bachelor of Science Nursing Program bsc(N) or equivalent degree.
  • Current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support BCLS.
  • Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS.
  • Current certification in Peripheral Intravenous Initiation and Maintenance.
  • Current certification in Life Saving Drugs.
  • Current certification in ECG Level I and II.
  • Current certification in Non Violent Crisis Intervention.
  • Current certification in care and removal of Chest Tubes.
  • Current certification Parenteral Infusions – Central Venous Lines.
  • Current certification Parenteral Infusions – Arterial Lines.
  • Current certification Parenteral Infusions – Specimen Handling/Blood Collection.
  • Minimum of 4 years full-time equivalent clinical experience (within the last 8 years) in Intensive Care.
  • Minimum 2 years recent teaching of clinical adult education programs or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated skills as an adult educator.
  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Proven flexibility and effectiveness in dealing with colleagues, supervisors, and employees; awareness and consideration of the needs and motives of others.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written in a clear, concise manner considering intended audience.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively motivate and lead staff to work as an effective team to accomplish optimum results.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems systematically, organize information, identify key details and factors, identify underlying causes and generate options and solutions.
  • Working knowledge of computer skills including microsoft outlook, meditech client server oe, and grasp software.

  • Successful completion of a Masters of Science in Nursing or agreement to pursue.
