The Communicable Disease Control Coordinator works under the direction of the designated Manager and is accountable for direct supervision of communicable disease public health nurses. They are responsible for the coordination of the public health activities to control and prevent communicable diseases, including surveillance and reporting responsibilities, as outlined in The Public Health Act, The Disease Control Regulations, Saskatchewan Health directives and policies, and other applicable federal legislation. They will coordinate the prevention, planning, implementation and evaluation of Communicable Disease Control (CDC) programs within the Saskatchewan Health Authority and their designated areas. The CDC Coordinator’s scope of practice requires a broad knowledge base and autonomous decision-making skills, with a specialized focus on implementation of provincial standards related to Communicable Disease Control. The coordinator role provides program orientation, ongoing in-servicing and support to designated CDC response staff, including Public Health Nurses within an interdisciplinary service delivery model. This position is also responsible for auditing program standards for staff adherence, as well as CDC reporting required by the Ministry.
