A Nurse Assistant provides services to individuals and families requiring assistance in dealing with behavioral health or substance abuse problems, including alcohol and/or drug abuse. This role involves performing basic physical care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN), providing concrete support to clients, and ensuring safety plans are implemented. The Nurse Assistant works as part of a multidisciplinary team, documents patient contacts in the electronic health record system, and participates in training sessions and staff meetings. Responsibilities also include maintaining attendance, arranging transportation as needed, and performing other assigned duties. Level II responsibilities include performing basic physical care procedures such as taking vital signs, assisting with physical exams, baths, and feeding patients, as well as participating in ongoing training and development to stay current with relevant certifications and mental health knowledge.
