About The Position

The Nurse Assistant in the Float Pool provides compassionate patient care under the direction of Registered Nurses, serving as a link between patients and the clinical team. The role supports patient safety, comfort, and dignity; contributes frontline observations to care planning; and responds to changing patient situations. The position also involves ongoing learning and adherence to Henry Ford Health System's Team Member Standards of Excellence.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Complete a Nurse Assistant program; similar programs may be titled Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT).
• Alternatively, be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed Fundamentals of Nursing.
• Alternatively, be a foreign-trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license.
• Alternatively, have completed a Medical Assistant program, with or without experience.
• Alternatively, have at least one year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar role.
• Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.

Nice To Haves

• CNA certification preferred.
• One year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and blood draws, monitor and record vital signs, and conduct chemstick testing to support patient assessments.
• Participate in team roundings and share observations that contribute to individualized patient care strategies.
• Identify and promptly report patient concerns, safety observations, and team needs to the responsible Registered Nurse.
• Respond to emergent situations by following established protocols and supporting the clinical team.
• Engage in continuing education to expand clinical skills and support professional growth.
• Follow Henry Ford Health System's Team Member Standards of Excellence in patient interactions and team collaboration.
