Nurse Assistant PRN Float Pool
About The Position
The Nurse Assistant provides patient care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The role includes safely transporting patients by wheelchair or stretcher, dispatching services, and appropriately documenting services. The Nurse Assistant also serves as an observer for patients assessed as needing constant observation, either in person or through remote video monitoring, to maximize patient safety. General receptionist and clerical duties support the efficient functioning of the nursing unit, and care is documented in the electronic medical record. The position is part-time in the Grosse Pointe Hospital Staffing Office Float Pool, with variable hours, days, shifts, and weekend frequency. The hospital is a Magnet-designated facility offering advanced nursing and surgical services, as well as a Baby-Friendly-designated birth center.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
- Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
- Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience.
- Current CNA certification.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Basic computer knowledge.
Responsibilities
