About The Position

The Nurse Assistant provides direct patient care and performs special procedures under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The role supports safe, therapeutic care; accurate and timely communication of patient information; and effective, professional communication with the care team, patients, and families. Care must be appropriate to the age and developmental needs of the patients served. The position is in the Neurology department at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and is scheduled for day shift, 35.1 hours per week.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Completion of an applicable state-approved Nurse Aide I course.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform effectively with frequent workload changes and competing demands.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care as part of the nursing process under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Perform special procedures correctly under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Create and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, coworkers, and the facility.
• Ensure complete, accurate, and timely communication of patient information.
• Communicate effectively, positively, and professionally with team members, coworkers, patients, and family members.
• Take personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth, and development.
• Provide age- and developmentally appropriate patient care in accordance with applicable Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines.
