About The Position

As our Nurse Assistant, you will help nursing staff deliver individual patient care so they can maintain standards of nursing practice and contribute to a compassionate, healing environment for patients, families, and visitors. Every day you will provide direct patient care, assist with daily living activities, and ensure patient stability. You will be expected to adhere to St. Alexius Medical Center's mission and values, maintain quality of care according to policies, give personal hygiene assistance, assist with feeding, ambulating, and positioning, monitor vital signs and report changes, respond to call lights, maintain a safe environment, and document actions. CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to comprehend medical terminology
  • Listed on a Nurse Assistant Registry operated by the North Dakota Board of Nursing, OR eligible for immediate placement upon hire (per "Eligibility for Employment as Nurse Assistant" policy)
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to organize assignments and work under pressure
  • Obtain Basic Life Support Certification within the orientation period

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient personal care and hygiene, including feeding, bathing, dressing, and assistance with mobility (ambulation, lifting, transferring)
  • Manages patient comfort, including bed making, skin care, and assisting with bowel/bladder elimination
  • Prepares patients, equipment, and supplies for various procedures and examinations
  • Performs, monitors, reports, and accurately documents all assigned clinical activities, escalating changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse
  • Assists nursing staff with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, including managing belongings, providing comfort items, orienting patients/families, and transporting patients
  • Contributes patient information to the interdisciplinary plan of care and documents relevant patient data according to unit standards
