This role is within a 13-bed ICU with an additional 4-bed surgical SICU at a Level 3 Trauma Hospital. The unit is dedicated to innovation and process improvement for optimal patient outcomes and strives for excellence in workplace satisfaction. Staff members are involved in shared governance programs and empowered to make decisions impacting the unit and patient care, including scheduling, staffing, workflow, infection prevention, patient care models, educational classes, and multidisciplinary peer reviews. The patient population includes a variety of high acuity patients requiring intensive monitoring and critical thinking. The Nurse Assistant provides care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include safe transport of patients, dispatch services, documentation, acting as an Observer for patients requiring constant observation, performing general receptionist and clerical duties, and documenting care in the electronic medical record.
