About The Position

Northwest Specialty Hospital, an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, is opening a new facility at 6225 Sharlands Ave. in Northwest Reno, offering acute rehabilitation and adult behavioral health services. The acute rehabilitation services focus on occupational, speech, and physical therapy for adults recovering from stroke, injury, or other disabling conditions, with advanced treatments for various conditions. Patients will have private rooms, access to a renovated therapy gym, and personalized care. The adult behavioral health services will cater to all adults 18 years and older, managed by a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, CNAs, social workers, and therapists. This program offers individualized care plans, therapy, medication management, and a secure, compassionate environment. We are seeking a dynamic Nurse Apprentice to provide direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse preceptor. The role involves communicating patient status changes to the RN preceptor, including diagnostic results and symptomatology.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing.
Has completed the fundamentals course in nursing school.
Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates supportive behaviors necessary for performing bedside report using IMAP & SBAR (both accomplished in partnership with patient inside room)
Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes: pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.
In coordination with RN preceptor, is able to formulate a patient care plan.
Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness under the supervision of the RN preceptor.
