About The Position
MD Anderson Cancer Center has a Per Diem Nurse Anesthetist opportunity in our Anesthesiology department. We are a dynamic academic department committed to excellence in clinical care, research, and education. Our team includes 95 faculty and 110+ CRNAs working in an anesthesia care team model to provide world-class anesthesia and pain medicine for cancer patients. We offer practice highlights including 37 inpatient ORs, 6 outpatient ORs, 13–16 procedural suites, plus regional centers in Katy & The Woodlands, with over 55,000+ cases annually. Our specialties include Pediatrics, neurosurgery (awake craniotomies, intra-op MRI), urology, thoracic, general surgery (hepatectomy, Whipple, HIPEC), orthopedic, head & neck, plastics, breast, and more. Requirements
- Graduate from an approved program of nurse anesthesia education.
- None (Experience Required)
- Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
- Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or (APNP). Related authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.
- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the Council on Certification (or Recertification) of Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
Nice To Haves
- Authorization for limited prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing.
Responsibilities
- Determines an appropriate pre-anesthesia examination has been made by a physician, relevant tests have been completed and a thorough assessment of the patient has been performed.
- Develops a plan of care based on assessment, interpretation, anticipated procedure, and essential equipment.
- Coordinates with appropriate health care providers.
- Administers anesthetic agents and adjunctive therapeutics.
- Monitors physiological responses and takes corrective action to maintain or stabilize the patient's condition.
- Provides resuscitative care.
- Records pertinent information on the patient's records.
- Terminates anesthesia.
- Provides patients with post-anesthesia care.
