About The Position

Capital Health is seeking a Nurse Aide for a Full-Time, Days position within Non-Nursing Floats at RMC. This role involves assisting with CPR under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician, accurately documenting patient care, and performing patient care tasks related to daily living activities. The Nurse Aide will complete assigned duties within the timeframe set by the RN, reinforce transition/discharge teaching, and perform essential clinical skills such as vital sign measurement, aseptic technique, specimen collection, and post mortem care. Responsibilities also include providing AM/PM care, intake and output monitoring, documentation, participating in skin rounds, assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and observing patients for significant changes. The role emphasizes improving communication and collaboration with the RN and other healthcare professionals, identifying and reporting patient safety risks, and understanding unit-based quality improvement activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • AHA Heartsaver AED.
  • Non-Licensed must obtain before end of orientation period.
  • Proficient in English and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good public relations skills.
  • Good bedside manners.

Nice To Haves

  • Paid or practicum experience in a clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with CPR under the direction/supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician.
  • Documents patient care activities and patient data accurately using appropriate documentation forms and/or information systems.
  • Performs patient care tasks related to activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding, hair, skin, and oral care.
  • Completes assigned patient duties within the time frame established by the registered nurse.
  • Reinforces transition/discharge teaching and patient self-care activities.
  • Performs required clinical skills such as vital sign measurement and enters patient vital signs information into computer, aseptic technique, non-invasive specimen collection, hot and cold applications, simple respiratory therapy, post mortem care, ostomy care, and application of teds/pneumatic teds.
  • Provides complete AM/PM care, vital signs, intake and output, appropriate and timely documentation and participates in skin rounds.
  • Assists with admission, transfer, or discharge of patients.
  • Observes patients carefully for significant changes.
  • Seeks to improve the effectiveness of communication and interactions with others.
  • Collaborates with the RN, the need for referrals to assist in addressing patient safety and legal issues.
  • Verifies physician's orders prior to performing procedure.
  • Clarifies with RN any special procedures or observations necessary.
  • Communicates patients' progress toward desired outcomes and diagnostic results to RN as appropriate.
  • Reports consistently patient data in a concise and thorough manner.
  • Assists with the identification of actual and potential risks to patient safety.
  • Reports patient safety issues utilizing to appropriate personnel.
  • Describes the unit based quality improvement activities and implications for practice.
