About The Position
The Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is a skilled nursing facility serving Kentucky Veterans. Its mission is to foster independence, preserve dignity, and provide compassionate care. The facility seeks a self-motivated, energetic Nurse Aide with a desire to care for Kentucky Veterans. The position provides personal and physical care and helps meet residents’ physical and psychosocial needs. The role is based at 100 Veterans Drive, Wilmore, Kentucky, and includes a $6.96-per-hour locality premium for the position in Jessamine County.
Requirements
- Possess current registration with the Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry, as administered by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
- Maintain any required licensure, certification, or other credentials for the length of employment.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with personal hygiene, including bathing, dental and oral care, and hair and nail care.
- Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions by escorting them to the bathroom and providing bedpans or portable commodes.
- Check and record intake and output flow charts.
- Assist residents who need help with meals and nourishment, including restorative dining.
- Provide total physical care, including meal assistance, and help meet Veterans’ physical and psychosocial needs.
- Measure and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and height as instructed.
- Collect and label specimens for laboratory analysis.
