Requirements

  • Three years of professional experience in nuclear systems safety analysis involving Boiling Water Reactors or Pressurized Water Reactors, and a bachelor’s degree in nuclear, mechanical, electrical, chemical, civil, structural or environmental engineering, or in engineering technology; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess and maintain a REAL ID or passport.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Nuclear power plant experience would be valuable asset for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent assessments of assigned nuclear power plants
  • Participate in Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) inspections to verify that all regulatory requirements are met
  • Review reports on nuclear safety and environmental impacts to identify important findings
  • Take part in emergency drills to maintain the ability to assess plant conditions during events
  • Inspect low-level radioactive waste packaging and transportation activities
  • Provide support to staff, prepare reports, and assist with training and public education
