About The Position

Performs radiographic and/or medical imaging and related procedures to assist in diagnosis and treatment of patients. Responsibilities include providing direct patient care, preparing and performing routine diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine exams, maximizing productivity and efficiency, performing imaging examinations using appropriate protocols, corroborating patient's clinical and menstrual history with procedure, ensuring all requested examinations are completed, maintaining quality control and quality assurance, accurately preparing and receiving and recording radioactive material, performing daily area surveys and weekly wipe surveys, demonstrating compliance with "ALARA" Standards, performing daily calibrations, keeping accurate and timely records, ensuring all quality control criteria are met, calculating and preparing radioactive material, performing emergency procedures, communicating patient/family health care needs, providing patient education, communicating variances, communicating with members of other disciplines, participating as a member of the Care Team, providing assistance to team members, participating on committees/councils, communicating operational issues, safeguarding confidential information, and utilizing supplies in a cost-effective manner. Regular and timely attendance is required.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT) program
0 Entry level and above
Registered Technologist (or registry eligible) ARRT (N) or CNMT
Possesses a valid Mississippi Medical Radiation Technologist license

Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care and evaluates outcome.
Prepares and performs routine diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine exams to best demonstrate the anatomical area of interest, respecting the patient's ability and comfort.
Maximizes productivity and efficiency within national benchmarks.
Performs imaging examinations using appropriate protocols established by the medical director.
Corroborates patient's clinical and menstrual history with procedure ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
Ensures all requested examinations are completed prior to releasing patient.
Maintains quality control and quality assurance in the assigned division.
Accurately prepares and receives and records radioactive material used for predetermined procedures for routine and special procedures.
Performs daily area surveys and weekly wipe surveys for detection of radiation contamination as stipulated by License and Regulating Agencies.
Demonstrates compliance with "ALARA" Standards by minimizing radiation exposure to self and others through the conscientious practice of radiation safety techniques.
Performs daily calibrations on all nuclear medicine equipment.
Keeps accurate and timely records on all radioisotope receipts, preparations, calculations, patient doses and disposals as specified by regulatory agencies and department policies.
Ensures all quality control criteria are met before any procedure is performed on a routine basis.
Calculates and prepares radioactive material using sterile and radiation safety techniques.
Performs emergency procedures for the proper and safe decontamination.
Communicates patient/family health care needs to the appropriate health care provider.
Provides patient education.
Communicates variances and/or significant events to appropriate caregiver in a timely manner.
Communicates with members of other disciplines to assure efficient quality patient care.
Participates as a member of the Care Team to achieve business goals, clinical/quality outcomes and customer satisfaction.
Provides assistance to team members as requested or necessary.
Participates on committees/councils as requested/required.
Communicates operational issues clearly and effectively within the team and outside the team as appropriate.
Safeguards confidential information.
Utilizes supplies in a cost effective manner.
Regular and timely attendance is required for this position.
