The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for preparing, administering, and documenting diagnostic doses of radiopharmaceuticals. This role adheres to department radiation safety practices and involves obtaining medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed. The technologist will obtain brief patient histories, record pertinent information on finished exams, and verify patient identity. They will explain procedures to patients and their families, perform organ concentration and excretion measurements for diagnostic information, and maintain a self-study program to stay current with new techniques and radiopharmaceuticals.
