Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with even greater independence. They effectively apply fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressing complex and varied. ONS is seeking a Component Engineer for the Maintenance Support Engineer Team. This position will manage assigned mechanical components to ensure a high level of equipment reliability and compliance with existing programs and commitments. Ideal candidate will have experience and expertise in Turbine/Generator operation, support systems, and secondary side plant operation. This position will report to the Maintenance Support Engineering Manager and have the following duties for assigned components:

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Not Technology) from an ABET accredited program. A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer.
  • 1 year of nuclear power plant experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree
  • This role requires the ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years or more of direct Component experience
  • Extensive experience with machine vibration analysis and signature interpretation
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer
  • Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in the utility industry
  • Commercial Nuclear Plant experience

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the site subject matter for the Station
  • Monitor and trending equipment performance
  • Interface with vendors to ensure repairs and refurbishments are properly managed
  • Direct onsite testing and troubleshooting activities for emergent issues
  • Coordinate cross functionally with other departments (such as Design, Maintenance & Operations) to ensure concerns, schedules, budgeting and related issues are properly managed
  • Ensure regulatory compliance is maintained for NRC and industry standards
  • Evaluate Fleet Operating Experience and industry learnings to improve Component performance
  • Evaluate Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Predictive (PdM) program performance and recommend performance based adjustments
